AvtoVAZ will introduce additional shifts in June, the company said on Thursday.

The plant will work on 21 and 28 June which are Saturdays, in accordance with an agreement with the plant’s labour union, Prime-Tass reported.

AvtoVAZ plans to produce an extra 2,742 cars and assembly kits as a result of the shifts added after high demand in April and May. Sales in April rose 30% month on month to 67,000 cars, the automaker said.

Higher output in June would enable dealers to replenish their inventories.
