Magna International unit Magna Exteriors and Interiors (MEI) has officially opened its new operation in the Ford plant at Craiova, Romania.
MEI’s 100 workers produce bumpers and exterior trim components in the plant which makes Ford’s new B-MAX MPV [minivan].

The new production area of 13,000 sq m provides injection moulding, painting and assembly services.
“We are very pleased to launch this new facility to support [Ford],” said George Condrea, general manager of MEI Craiova. “This facility was established with several new operational efficiencies in mind, including a fully automated painting line that helps increase productivity and delivers the level of manufacturing excellence our customers expect.”
“The Magna investment comes at a very important moment for Craiova, because it creates new jobs at a time when they are needed,” said Ion Prioteasa, president of the Dolj District that is home to the plant.
“I welcome the opening of a global company such as Magna here in Craiova,” said Craiova mayor Olguta Lia Vasilescu. “The Craiova municipality is willing to lend its support to investors who bring jobs into the region. I wish the employees and the company a great start.”
