General Motors Europe is to take over importing Cadillac, Corvette and Hummer into Romania, replacing an independent importer, according to a local newspaper.
GM central and eastern Europe communications director Marc Kempe told the Business Standard the decision was part of a wider plan by GME to support Kroymans Corporation, official importer to the European market of the three American brands, and assume responsibility for distribution and sales, marketing and servicing in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria.
The three brands were previously distributed in Romania by Radacini Motors, the general importer of Subaru and a former Daewoo dealer, the paper said. Only 15 Cadillacs were sold there last year.
GM UK last July took over responsibility for local distribution, marketing, sales and servicing of Cadillac, Corvette and Hummer. The company retained the Cadillac and Corvette dealer network set up by Kroymans and the Pendragon dealer group but subsequently set up a new Hummer dealer chain.
GM said at the time that Kroymans would continue to provide ‘back office’ services in the UK.
