A new van will be the first Mitsubishi branded product made by Renault in France.
Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL) confirmed to local trade website GoAutoNews it would revive the Express nameplate in July, this time on a variant of Renault's Trafic van (previous generations of which were also built as Opel, Vauxhall and Nissan variants).
MMAL last sold the Express in 2013, when it was based on Mitsubishi Motors' own long lived L300 van first launched in 1986.
Australian buyers will be offered two Express wheelbases, two turbodiesel engines and either an automatic or manual transmission.
The engine choices are a 1.6-litre, twin turbo, four cylinder unit paired only with a six speed manual transmission or a two-litre single turbo unit paired with a six speed, dual clutch automatic.
Both engine choices will be available regardless of wheelbase size, GoAutoNews said.

Renault builds the Trafic with a four door crew cab but the new Express will only come with a two-door, three-seat cab with manual height and lumbar adjustment for the driver's seat, tilt/reach adjustable steering wheel and a retractable centre armrest plus an audio system compatible with Bluetooth and USB.
