Renault reportedly is about to announce a longer range EV that will give the upcoming Chevrolet Bolt-based Opel Ampera-e a run for its money.
The 2017 Zoe will have a claimed range of 248 miles according to early details that were accidentally published on Renault's Dutch website, Autocar reported.
The 108 miles increase over the outgoing car is due to a new 41kWh battery, up from 22kWh and means the electric Renault can travel 93 miles further than a Nissan Leaf on one full battery charge, although real world driving ranges can often be less than the claimed figure, Autocar said.
The report said 89bhp, 87bhp and 76bhp versions would be offered in the Netherlands though Zoe specifications likely would vary by market.
The technical details were soon removed from the Dutch media site ahead of the new model's official debut at the Paris motor show on Thursday.
Opel's Ampera-e will also take its bow at the French show. It's essentially a rebadge of the North American Chevrolet Bolt which GM said recently would have an EPA-estimated range of 238 miles, well up on rivals such as the Leaf which are now good for about 125 miles.
