Mystery continues to surround a major fire which broke out on 22 January at Recticel’s automotive interiors plant in Most, Czech Republic, with the supplier declaring a “force majeure” to its customers.
Production has halted at the interiors site, with no further details yet available as to any injuries sustained as a result of the blaze or to what extent buildings are damaged. However, the plant has been shuttered by Czech authorities and production completely halted.
“We are not communicating anything,” an employee for Recticel told just-auto from the Belgian supplier’s headquarters. “There is [will be] a press release soon – is is being prepared now.”
In its original statement, the supplier said “at this stage, no one has been hurt,” but the company declined to provide any update on the employee situation.
“Recticel announces…a severe fire incident occurred in one of the production halls in its Automotive Interiors site in Most in the Czech Republic,” said a statement from the supplier.
“As far as can be ascertained at this stage, no one has been hurt. For safety reasons, the authorities have closed down the plant, and production has been stopped completely. Recticel is as of yet unable to assess the damage to the plant or the equipment, nor the full extent of the impact it will have on our production going forward.”
