PSA Groupe is warning there is “no certainty” at this stage its potential acquisition of General Motors subsidiary, Opel, will go ahead.
The French automaker confirmed today (14 February) it was in discussions with GM with a view to possibly buying Opel.
“Since 2012, General Motors and PSA have had an alliance in place covering three projects in Europe and which has generated substantial synergies for the two Groups,” said a PSA statement sent to just-auto from Paris.
“In this framework, GM and PSA regularly examine expansion and cooperation opportunities. PSA Groupe is confirming it is examining with General Motors, many strategic initiatives aimed at improving profitability and operational efficiency, including a potential acquisition of Opel.
“At this stage, there is no certainty concerning an eventual agreement.”
