PPG has launched its Lineguard series of coatings and application services to help automotive OEMs, tier suppliers and industrial customers reduce the time, cost, risk and environmental impact associated with cleaning and maintaining paint shop equipment.
The PPG Lineguard series includes insulative and non-stick coatings that help simplify the cleaning of vehicle carriers, racks, jigs, floor grids and other equipment.
The coatings resist the build-up of electrocoat, liquid and powder coatings, chemicals, polymers, grease, dirt and other contaminants.
PPG notes vehicle and industrial businesses have to regularly pull paint shop equipment from production to remove contaminant build-up. In many cases, thoroughly cleaning this equipment requires time-intensive and costly spray blasting using extremely high water pressures or chemical cleaning materials.
The supplier says equipment protected with a Lineguard coating can be cleaned faster, at lower cost and without the need to use potentially dangerous practices.
The non-stick properties of Lineguard coatings enable customers to reduce the number of equipment cleaning cycles by up to 75%, leading to savings in labour, materials, energy, water, waste filtration and removal.

By GlobalData“Paint shop maintenance is a serious pain point for vehicle OEMs and other industrial businesses,” said PPG global business development director, PPG Optima Solutions products, Anne-Sybil Bragadir.
“PPG Lineguard coatings demonstrate our commitment to finding solutions that help customers reduce operating costs, increase process efficiency, better protect their employees and manage their environmental footprint.”
The Lineguard series includes fluoropolymer coatings suited for topcoat carriers, paint booth racks, floor grids and other equipment commonly exposed to high-temperature ovens, as well as solvent-free epoxy coatings designed for electrocoat hangers.
To help customers avoid unnecessary equipment downtime, PPG Optima Solutions representatives can manage each step of the project, including scheduling, equipment preparation, application and any related transportation needs.
