Geely Group has started Polestar 3 production in Chengdu, China.

Additional output is scheduled to start in the Volvo plant in South Carolina, US, later this year.

Early production test series cars have already been completed in the American plant.

The model will help take the EV-only brand from a one- to a three-model company this year.

Volvo Cars and Geely, founded Polestar in 2017 as a joint venture. Recently Volvo announced plans to offload most of its stake in Polestar and retain only 18% of its shares.

The 3 will be the automaker’s first vehicle built on two continents.
