Labour unions from Opel’s factory in Gliwice have appealed to the Polish government for support for the facility.

The Polish News Bulletin said that they expect the Polish authorities to get involved in talks with GM Europe.

“Government support is absolutely necessary. We want Warsaw to officially ask GM headquarters in Europe and the US about the future of the factory in Gliwice. We need to know if it is in danger and whether it will survive,” said the unions’ representative Miroslaw Rzezniczak.

The PNB said that the unions are seeking government guarantees for the factory, which would ensure the launch of production of an upcoming new Opel model there.
