Car production in Poland fell 28% year on year in May while the tally made in Tychy, Gliwice and Poznan in the first five months of the year fell almost 20% to 303,000.
The General Motors Europe Opel factory in Gliwice saw the biggest fall in production: 31%, Polish News Bulletin reported. Fiat Auto Poland output slipped almost 25% but Volkswagen in Poznan boosted production 1.1%.
Most cars made in Poland are shipped to western Europe where new car registrations fell 7% in April according to the ACEA. Between January and April, Opel and Fiat registrations in the EU fell 16.4 and 19.4%, respectively.
