Nissan’s commercial vehicle distributor, Universal Motors, is preparing to launch eight new models in the next few years, according to local newspaper, the Inquirer.

This is a change of strategy for Nissan as many of Nissan’s recent new models have not reached the Philippine market.

The move is part of Nissan’s five year plan which, according to Universal Motors, is more optimistic about markets outside the US and Japan. In the past Nissan was focused on those two main markets as they gave it the best opportunity to rebuild its financial and capital base.

Current models distributed by Universal Motors include the Patrol SUVs, the Frontier pick ups and the Urvan.
