Hyundai Motor’s Philippines unit grew sales by nearly 50% year on year in the first two months of 2011, it said in a statement.
Sales to the end of February rose 47% to 4,522 units from 3,079 for the same period last year as passenger car sales more than doubled last month, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc (HARI) said.
Its February sales grew 54% to 2,369 units from 1,538 due to the popularity of its i10, Accent and Elantra models.
“We anticipate our strong sales performance to be sustained by favourable consumer outlook, the introduction of new models and consistent [marketing and advertising],” said Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI president and chief executive, in the statement.
HARI is the third top autos seller in the Philippines after local Toyota and Mitsubishi Motors units.
