Former CLEPA CEO, Lars Holmqvist, says he is “convinced” further details surrounding Saab‘s painful descent into bankruptcy will emerge as previous CEO, Victor Muller, launches his EUR3bn lawsuit against General Motors.

The bankrupt automaker – now in the hands of National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) – is still the subject of intense interest in its home country of Sweden with a forensic spotlight now being shone by Muller’s complaint against the former US owner.

“He [Muller] is serious about GM, it’s a guy with principles,” Holmqvist told just-auto at the Paris motor show. “I am convinced there is more to come – [there will be] a two-hour Swedish television programme which is going to look into the whole affair from when GM put it into restructuring and I am sure GM is not going to come out smelling of roses.”

Holmqvist also revealed Muller’s enormous lawsuit was being backed by a private equity investor.

“There is a guy who is financing it and he takes a certain amount of gains – Victor Muller takes the rest. This guy covers up to EUR3m.”

General Motors previously said it would “vigorously defend the company against these baseless allegations” at the hearing which is due to be heard in eastern Michigan.

“We have reviewed the complaint and it is completely without merit,” added the US automaker.
