Chevrolet has released pictures of the final production redesigned Aveo ahead of its Paris show debut but the car is little different from the RS concept displayed at Detroit in January. It is significant as it will be built in, rather than imported into, the US where production of the larger Cruze started in Ohio today.
The Aveo petrol engine range for Europe includes an 86hp 1.2 litre version and 100hp 1.4 and there will now be two versions of the 1.3 litre diesel engine (75hp and 95hp) with stop/start technology. US buyers will get a 1.6 petrol alternative instead of a diesel and will also be offered a sedan version.
Chevrolet’s first six-speed automatic transmission on a small car will feature on the GM-DAT-designed Aveo 1.4 as an option in most markets; manual transmissions are five or six speed depending on engine choice.
Chevrolet will also show its new Orlando MPV, updated Captiva and five-door Cruze at Paris. Aveo sales start in autumn 2011.
