Opel/Vauxhall has appointed Antonio Cobo as VP, Manufacturing and Supply Chain from 1 January, 2019.
Cobo will succeed Remi Girardon, who will take over an unspecified position within the manufacturing and supply chain division of Groupe PSA. In his new role, Cobo will be responsible for Opel/Vauxhall manufacturing operations as well as supply chain, facilities management, environmental compliance and sustainability.
“Remi has done an incredible job during his tenure here in Russelsheim,” said Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller.
“Under his leadership, the competitiveness of our plants has improved tremendously. On behalf of the entire leadership team, I want to express my sincere gratitude for his numerous achievements.”
Cobo has been working for Opel/Vauxhall and GM since 1981 and held a variety of international management functions mainly in the area of manufacturing and quality with assignments in Spain, Germany and the US.
He was appointed managing director, Opel Espana and plant manager of the Zaragoza Plant in September, 2010.
Girardon has extensive experience in the automotive industry, working at PSA since 1997. Prior to his appointment at Opel, he was senior vice president Group Industrial Strategy at Opel’s parent company.
Before that, he managed PSA’s plants in Trnava (Slovakia), Caen and Sept-Fons in France.
