Several car manufacturers are working with Bosch and Shell, together with Integer Research Ltd, to launch a website – www.FindAdBlue.com – designed to help diesel engine drivers to find gas stations with AdBlue pumps.

The FindAdBlue partners are Audi, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Shell and Volkswagen. AdBlue is a vital ingredient in SCR technology  – applied to most Euro 6 compliant diesel engines – that can help counter the suggestion that the latest diesel engines produce vast quantities of harmful emissions.

AdBlue is a fluid that works with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) on the latest diesel engines to reduce NOx emissions. There is a separate AdBlue tank for diesel drivers that needs to be filled up from time to time.

AdBlue is a solution of water and urea. SCR technology involves the injection of small quantities of this liquid into the flow of exhaust gases. When the Adblue urea and water solution combines with exhaust emissions, it produces nitrogen and oxygen by breaking down mono-nitrogen oxides.

The passenger car AdBlue network is growing at filling stations around Europe, and the FindAdBlue partners are working to ensure that drivers can find an AdBlue pump near their location. AdBlue is also widely available in bottles in convenient sizes (1.5 – 5 litres) at thousands of filling stations and retail stores across Europe.

Stefan Saliger from Shell said, "We are excited about the launch of the FindAdBlue website and the role it will play in ensuring that motorists across Europe have up to date, detailed information about where to purchase AdBlue in a convenient way."

The participating car manufacturers will also assist drivers to find a convenient AdBlue offer at filling stations through their vehicle navigation systems.
