New Zealand's Motor Industry Association said November 2019 registrations were 3.5% lower year on year with 13,850 vehicles sold.

"Year to date the market is down 4.7% [to 143,353] which confirms our expectation that the market for 2019 will be down approximately 5% on 2018 volumes," said CEO David Crawford.

November reflected "a steady but slightly weaker market compared to 2018".

Electrification is making progress. Pure electric vehicles continued their modest rate of monthly registrations at 147 units for November, with 84 PHEVs and 591 hybrid vehicles sold last month.

Registration of 9,640 passenger and SUVs for November 2019 was up 1.06% year on year while commercial vehicle registrations of 4,210 fell 12.6%.

The top models last month of November were the Ford Ranger (907 units), followed by the Toyota RAV4 (881) with the Toyota Corolla bumped back to third place (658 units).
