Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company reported a 7.6% drop in global sales to 208,663 vehicles in April 2026, including models sold under the Nissan and Infiniti brands. However, sales in Japan rose by over 2% to 24,939 units, driven by strong demand for mini-vehicles, but overseas sales fell by almost 9% to 183,724 units.

In the first four months of the year, Nissan’s global vehicle sales fell by 5.5% to 1,035,747 units, with sales in Japan dropping by 2.4% to 153,944 units, while overseas sales declined by 6% to 881,803 units. Sales in China fell by 3.3% to 162,110 units in the 4-month period, while sales in North America fell by 3.6% to 448,750 units, reflecting mainly a 3.8% decline in US sales to 34,818 units, while sales in Mexico rose by over 2% to 86,813 units. Deliveries in Europe declined by over 11% to 117,949 units, and in other markets, combined volumes were also down by 11% to 152,994 units.
Nissan’s global vehicle production fell by over 4% to 898,098 units year-to-date, with output in Japan falling by almost 2.7% to 196,414 units, while overseas volumes declined by 4.8% to 701,684 units. Output in the US surged by 18% to 204,305 units in this period, while in Mexico volumes plunged by 28% to 158,872 units, as the company continued to shift production to the US in response to the Trump administration’s trade policies. Production in China fell by 2.2% to 159,260 units, while in the UK output was up by 6.1% to 97,624 units. Production in other countries combined fell by over 6.7% to 81,623 units.
Exports from Japan rose by 1% to 114,352 units in the 4-month period, with shipments to North America rising by over 6% to 51,628 units, while exports to other markets combined fell by 3% to 62,724 units.
