Nissan has agreed with Tesla to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug.
The change will give North American owners access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the continent.
It is the first Japanese automaker to make the switch.
From 2024, the company will offer a NACS charging adapter for its Ariya EVs which have the Combined Charging System 1 (CCS1) plug for DC fast charging.
From 2025, NACS ports will be fitted.
Nissan’s announcement followed similar moves by Mercedes, Ford, GM, Volvo and Rivian.
