Japanese automaker Nissan Motor is stepping up exports from its manufacturing joint ventures in China, with a large batch of Frontier Pro pickup trucks shipped to the Middle East earlier this month. The trucks were produced by Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Company, its joint venture based in China’s Henan province.

This came just days after a mixed shipment of N7 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), produced by its Dongfeng Nissan joint venture in Guangzhou, and Frontier Pro pickups, was exported to markets in Southeast Asia. In the second quarter of 2026, Nissan shipped its first batch of 900 Frontier Pro pickups from the port of Shanghai to markets in Latin America.

The Japanese automaker said the shipments marked a new phase of “large-scale implementation” in its “in China, to the world strategy,” further consolidating the country’s position as a key global innovation and export base.

Earlier this year, Nissan stated it was positioning China as a key global innovation and export base within its new long-term strategy, increasing its dependence on China’s strong research and development (R&D), manufacturing and supply chain capabilities to help improve its global competitiveness. The company confirmed that China has key advantages in terms of its industrial supply chain and “innovation vitality” in the field of electrification and smart connected vehicles.

Under the plan, the N7 will be exported from China to markets in Latin America and Southeast Asia, while the Frontier Pro will be exported to Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The company also plans to begin exports of the NX8 SUV and other models to selected overseas markets in the near future.
