The New Zealand new car market’s steady month-by-month rise this year appears to have peaked in October, according to a Reuters report, which said registrations totalled 7,497, flat month on month, but up 1.6% on a year ago.

Citing Land Transport New Zealand data, Reuters said used car registrations [mostly newly imported from Japan] totalled 11,663 last month, down 5.3% on September but up 1.8% on a year ago.

New commercial vehicle registrations for the month were 1,873, down 15% from the 2,210 recorded in September, but up 6.5% on Oct. 2004, the report said.

The top selling make in October was Toyota with 1,375 new cars, followed by Ford with 1,230 new cars, Reuters added.
