Chinese turbocharger specialist BMTS Technology is to open a new factory in Saltillo, in the Mexican state of Coahuila, to meet increased demand from automakers in North America.

“With its excellent automotive infrastructure, the region around Saltillo offers ideal conditions for the planned [factory] where exhaust gas turbochargers will be produced from spring 2019,” the supplier said in a statement.

“For this, the new plant can access the global resources of the BMTS Technology Group.”

The plant will be certified to ISO9001 and ISO/TS16949 “to meet the high quality requirements of the automotive industry”.

“The new plant in the Saltillo area will allow us to be more competitive in North America while responding to strong demand for fuel-efficient turbocharging technologies in [the region] with additional production capacity,” said CEO Zhuojun Yang.

“Our new manufacturing facility in Saltillo is strategically located to meet growing customer demands through local production. We look forward to serving our customers on site and to producing our high quality products close to our North American customers.”
