VW launched its Touareg SUV in India market at the New Delhi Auto Expo this week.
“The model will be available CBU [imported fully assembled] from April 2012,” VW India cars chief Neeraj Garg told just-auto.
VW India, which assembles some models locally in a plant shared with house brand Skoda, has made major strides in a very short period.
“We sold about 32,000 units in 2010 and more than doubled that to 78,408 units in 2011,” Garj said.
VW has also increased its dealer tally to 101 country-wide.
Garj noted the market had slowed a bit but was still growing.
“We are definately expecting good growth in 2012.” “We intend to be a large volume player in the premium segment.”
VW’s expo display includes the XI1 concept.
