Toyota has said it will suspend operations at its plant in Baja California, Mexico, for eight days from Friday as part of the company’s planned output adjustment.
The Mexican plant suspension has nothing to do with the outbreak of swine influenza in the country, officials have stressed.
With workforce of about 790, the plant produces the Tacoma pickup truck for supply to the US market.
Like other manufacturers, Toyota in North America has been hit by the market downturn and has had to make production adjustments as stocks have risen.
