Nissan Americas has named José Valls as regional vice president, commercial, Nissan Mexicana effective 1 April, reporting to José Munoz, president and general director, and responsible for the company’s commercial activities in Mexico. 

Valls will oversee the company’s ongoing efforts to increase its presence in Mexico, where it currently holds the market leader position with over 23% share. He joined Nissan after 10 years with General Motors in Mexico and Latin America where, in his most recent assignment, he was responsible for sales operations, fleet and commercial, distribution, dealer development, product development and portfolio management. 

“José’s proven ability to drive strong brands and robust sales will help Nissan achieve our goal of sustained market leadership in Mexico,” said Munoz. “His deep knowledge of Mexico’s competitive environment and Mexican consumers will be critical to our team’s ongoing success.”

Valls succeeds Tom Scarpello, who has been appointed general manager, global marketing communications and global CMM, Infiniti business unit, based in Japan.
