The news Chrysler Park in Toluca, Mexico, a joint project between the automaker and its suppliers and part of a $US1bn investment announced last year has been officially opened.

The park is located next to Chrysler’s Toluca complex where the PT Cruiser is currently built and Dodge Journey production will begin early next year. Eight suppliers are currently part of the park.
The initial suppliers are TRW, Magna Intier, IPO, Seglo, HBPO, Android, Brose and Gestamp, which hosted the ceremony.
“Chrysler Park helps make Toluca a highly competitive assembly operation,” said Oscar Albin, purchasing and suppliers quality director of Chrysler Mexico. “This operation’s total annual purchasing scope is more than $300m, giving us tremendous opportunity.”
The suppliers are building complete component modules that are delivered just in sequence to the assembly plant.

By GlobalDataThe Toluca unit of HBPO GmbH, founded at the beginning of 2004 as a joint venture between the automotive supplier companies Hella KGaA Hueck & Company, Behr Group GmbH and Plastic Omnium, will supply built in-sequence front-end modules in complex variations for the Journey. The front-end modules were a described as a “breakthrough automotive innovation” that includes structural front-body carriers, cross members, engine cooling systems, electronics and accurately positioned headlamps.
This is HBPO’s third production facility in Mexico. It also has plants in Windsor, Canada and Fenton, Missouri.
