BMW grabbed a 41 percent share of the luxury car market in the first four months of the year, selling 2,137 vehicles, according to Mexican financial newspaper El Economista.


The Munich-based company’s volume was up 130 percent from the previous year. Sales in 2000 were up 68 percent from 1999 to give BMW the largest share of the Mexican luxury vehicle market, the newspaper said.


BMW has recently widened its model line-up and opened two more dealerships, taking its Mexican network to 21 locations.
