“We are starting a week of technical shutdown from today (Monday) given the problems of the United States because of the fall in sales,” Oscar Ortiz, an official of the union in Hermosillo, told Reuters.

The Ford shutdown, which is the second this year, will last until Friday. The Hermosillo plant will restart operations from Monday, September 30, union sources told Reuters.

According to Reuters, Ford’s Hermosillo plant employs some 2,000 union workers and produces the Escort Coupe and Focus SVT, ZX2, ZX4 and ZX5. The plant recently stopped producing four-door Escorts, Reuters added.
