Mexico’s car industry produced 122,661 vehicles in April, down 27.2% from April 2002, Reuters reported, citing the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA).
Exports by Mexico-based automakers totaled 96,709 units in April, down 22.2% from April last year, AMIA told Reuters.
According to the news agency, Mexico, which manufactured 1.774 million cars in 2002, down 2.4% from 2001, is the 10th largest vehicle producer in the world and major makers there include General Motors, Ford, Volkswagen and DaimlerChrysler.
