Mercedes-Benz Thailand is on target to complete the roll-out of 200 recharging stations in Thailand by the end of September, according to a company statement.

The company this week said it had already installed 80% of the recharging network it planned to install to service the growing population of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) it sells in the country, including the C350e, E350e, and GLE500e.

The automaker said PHEVs now account for 40% of its Thai sales.

Most of the recharging points are being installed on walls within hotel chains, including Hilton and Marriott, at dealers and in key shopping centres across the country.

The EV Box one phase chargers have a 16amp, 3.7kW capacity and can fully recharge a car in 2.5 hours.

Mercedes-Benz is funding the network while property owners have provided wall space free.

Recharging is also free – for Mercedes owners.
