Maserati is recalling a number of models in the US that are subject to fire risk due to incorrect seat wiring harness layout and a fuel line problem.
Some 39,281 cars are affected by the wiring recall and include the 2014-17 Quattroporte, Ghibli and Levante models.

The NHTSA report said that Maserati has determined that the vehicles may have been manufactured with an incorrect seat wiring harness layout, which can cause the seat wiring harness to rub against metal points on the seat/seat frame assembly. Through normal seat adjustment operation, and over time, this can lead to an inoperative seat adjustment system, and in rare cases, a potential risk of fire due to an electrical short to ground between the seat wiring harness and the seat adjustment motor assembly.
Fixing the issue involves inspecting the vehicles in question and replacing the wiring harness as necessary. The recall should begin on March 21, 2017, according to the defect report.
Maserati's second recall covers 10,879 examples of the 2014-2015 Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans.
In this recall, the issue relates to fuel lines. Maserati's defect report blames the fuel line supplier for lines that may weep or leak fuel. There may be fuel leaks at the fuel lines' quick connectors, due to excessive peeling during the assembly process.
