Suzuki Motor Corporation subsidiary Maruti Suzuki India has entered India’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment for the first time with the Super Carry compact truck.

Initially, sales of the vehicle will be limited to three cities (Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata). Sales area will be expanded gradually.

The Super has an 800cc, two-cylinder diesel engine. The vehicle’s body offers ample load carrying capacity, great manoeuvrability, and stability, the automaker said, and has a spacious cab designed to offer comfort for longer trips. “All these enhance practical user-friendliness for an LCV,” Maruti said.

India’s commercial vehicle market segment accounted for 700,000 units in fiscal 2015. Maruti Suzuki plans to launch more models in the segment, in addition to its main line of passenger cars and multi utility vehicles.

The Super Carry is produced at the Gurgaon plant in the state of Haryana.
