New vehicle sales in Malaysia fell by 2.6% to 52,252 units in November, from 53,365 units sold in the same month of last year, according to data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

Light passenger vehicle sales fell by 1.4% to 45,749 units, from 46,392 units previously, while commercial vehicle sales were down by 6.7% to 6,503 units.

The MAA attributes the decline to delays in the registration process of new vehicles. Sales in the first 11 months of the year were still 5% higher at 595,300 units, with the market still on target to exceed the association’s 640,000-unit full-year forecast.
