New vehicle sales in Malaysia fell by 0.6% to 50,390 units in February, from 50,718 units a year earlier, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
Sales of passenger vehicles fell by 1% to 44,917 while commercial vehicle sales were 9.1% higher at 5,473 units.
The slight slow down in passenger vehicle sales was attributed to price uncertainty associated with the introduction of the new goods and service tax (GST) scheduled for the end of March.
The association said dealers had increased discounts in March to help clear stock ahead of the GST.
