Malaysia’s Proton Holdings is expected to unveil new models and announce new collaborative agreements over the next year, according to local industry sources.

The struggling national car company is currently testing the new Preve five-door hatchback (codenamed P3-22A), which is expected to be unveiled later this year.

Also, Honda is expected to emerge as a new strategic partner for Proton. The replacement for Proton’s ageing Perdana mid-segment car is rumoured to be based on the Honda Accord, after collaboration talks with Nissan were called off.

The car is expected to be launched over the next two years, with some body modifications and possibly the new two litre engine it bought from state oil company Petronas.
