Proton prefers to seek strategic alliances with a foreign partner which could give value-added advantages to the national car manufacturer, its managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir has said.
Bernama – Malaysian National News Agency – reported that the potential partner should add value to Proton in terms of technology, marketing and in other areas.
Proton would choose its partner when the appropriate time comes, Zainal Abidin told reporters.
“We should choose the right time. When the company becomes more stronger, and the opportunity arises and the time is right, we will find the best partner for Proton,” he said.
He was asked to comment on the development of Proton’s search for a strategic partner following the termination of talks with Volkswagen AG last year.
