Proton Holdings has indicated its desire to expand into the fast growing Asian markets of China and India.


The Malaysian carmaker, which also reported its third quarter profits today, is close to sealing a deal to sell cars in China, its managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Mohd. Tahir was reported saying today.


He told Dow Jones that the company was in talks with “several parties” in China and discussions were at “the conclusion stages”.


The company is also interested in moving into India. “We can’t ignore the China and India markets,” Syed Zainal was quoted saying.
