Vehicle sales in Malaysia last month fell 15% year on year to 35,047 units, a trade body was reported as saying on Wednesday.
Passenger car sales, however, rose 11% during the month to 31,987 units from 28,839 a year ago, the Malaysian Automotive Association said in a statement cited by Reuters.
It reportedly said there was no big rush to buy cars for the Chinese New Year which fell on 18 February.
A lack of consumer confidence and difficulty in obtaining purchase loans would continue to affect sales in February, the association said, according to Reuters, adding that volume was also likely to be hit by a short working month due to the lunar new year holiday.
