Malaysia’s passenger car sales jumped 27% in October from the same month last year to 43,740 units from 34,458, a trade body told Reuters on Wednesday.

Total October sales, including commercial vehicles, soared 29.1% to a record monthly high of 56,696 units, from 43,914 in the same month last year, the Malaysian Automotive Association said in a statement.

The association reportedly said the sharp growth was driven by favourable interest rates and strong deliveries ahead of Eid al-Fitr and Diwali holidays in early November, but it noted that fewer working days in the month due to the holidays could dampen sales.
