Passenger car sales in Malaysia fell 0.5% in April from the same month last year to 31,134 units from 31,293, a trade body told the Reuters news agency on Thursday.
Total April sales, including commercial vehicles, rose 6.7% to 42,776 units from 40,091 in the same month last year, the Malaysian Automotive Association said in a statement cited by Reuters.
The association reportedly said customers continued to buy to avoid higher prices when a new duty structure is introduced in July and added that a series of new model launches could help sales.
