Magna International says it has produced a total of 500,000 liftgates for the Nissan Rogue crossover utility vehicle at its Decostar exteriors facility in Carrollton, Georgia. Magna has been providing Nissan with the industry’s first all-thermoplastic, fully recyclable liftgate module in North America since October 2013.

“Reaching this milestone of 500,000 liftgates in just three years is evidence of our team’s unparallelled commitment to producing high-quality products for our customers,” said Decostar general manager David Meier. “We are proud to partner with Nissan to produce environmentally friendly, lightweight liftgates that help lower carbon dioxide emissions and improve fuel economy.”

Decostar was also honoured as International Company of the Year by Georgia governor Nathan Deal at an 6 October, ceremony in Atlanta. The 35th annual Governor’s International Awards celebrated companies and individuals for achieving international business success. Decostar, nominated by Louise Blais, consul general of Canada in Atlanta, won in the large company category, for those with 500 or more employees.

“Achieving a great milestone with our valued customer Nissan and being recognised by governor deal for the Company of the Year Award is something the Decostar team and Magna are extremely proud of,” said Magna exteriors president Grahame Burrow. “Congratulations to the team on reaching this milestone and recognition, which is a direct result of continued hard work and dedication to customer and community.”
