Kia Corporation this week officially launched its new high-performance EV6 GT sedan in its domestic market as it boosts its zero-emissions product range.

The EV6 GT is based on Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated E-GMP EV platform which is also used for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 and the Genesis GV60.

The model is fitted with a 77 KWh fast charging battery pack giving it a range of 342km on a single charge. Its dual motors generate 577bhp, which the automaker claims allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds faster than many supercars currently on the market and the “fastest passenger vehicle” built in South Korea today.

The EV6 is priced at KRW72m (US$50,200) after incentives including tax breaks.

Kia said it planned to launch high-performance GT versions of all its upcoming EV models to attract customers.
