We’re taking a long weekend in the UK – we get Monday 7th May off as a national holiday. It’s the May Day (1st) holiday, which – in Britain – is taken on the Monday following the 1st, if it doesn’t fall on a Monday.

For once, a weekend with a ‘bank holiday’ (the quaint UK term for national holidays) attached is forecast to see some rather clement weather. Time for us to let off some steam in the great outdoors, traffic jams permitting (May day ‘parade’ for us often involves tarmac, stationary metal and frazzled families – but we’re used to it).
Normal service resumes on Tuesday.
