The Pune facility is expected to work closely with JSW Motors’ research and development, manufacturing and leadership teams.

JSW Motors is the automotive business of the JSW Group focused on new-energy passenger vehicles

Under the arrangement, Tata Elxsi will oversee the rollout of the connected vehicle platform and a unified customer experience application for JSW Motors’ forthcoming vehicle programmes.

Its role will cover the full process, including concept development, integration, production and aftersales support, alongside a wider partner network.

The partnership will cover digital and data-led technologies including user experience design, cloud platforms, over-the-air frameworks and digital twins.

It will also involve systems in areas such as location-based services, cyber security, AI and machine learning analytics, 5G-related technologies, and immersive tools including AR, VR and XR for use across the vehicle ownership journey.

Tata Elxsi MD and CEO Manoj Raghavan said: “The future of mobility will be increasingly connected and software-defined, where vehicles continuously evolve through software, data, and intelligent systems.

“Our collaboration with JSW Motors reflects this shift, enabling scalable and adaptable vehicle platforms. The JNEXT – JSW NextGen Technology Center will be instrumental in translating this into real-world mobility solutions across vehicle programmes.”

JSW Motors CEO Ranjan Nayak said: “At JSW Motors, we are building a technology-led, new-energy mobility ecosystem that is deeply rooted in India and globally competitive. We are excited to partner with Tata Elxsi to establish the JNEXT – JSW NextGen Technology Center in Pune, which will serve as a strategic engineering hub for our upcoming vehicle programmes.

“Tata Elxsi’s proven expertise across software-defined vehicles, ADAS, electrification, and digital engineering will help us accelerate development timelines and raise the bar on quality, safety, and innovation.”

According to the statement, the engagement will also extend to software-defined vehicle architectures and intelligent platforms for diagnostics, performance improvement and predictive maintenance.

Testing, validation, functional safety and cyber security frameworks aligned with global automotive standards will also form part of the work.

Tata Elxsi plans to use its automotive engineering, design and digital technology capabilities for the programme, including its proprietary platforms such as TETHER Auto, to build scalable cloud-native systems.

The announcement follows a series of recent moves by both companies.

Last month, Tata Elxsi launched DevStudio.ai, a multi-agent generative AI platform designed for automotive software development.

The platform is aimed at speeding up the software development lifecycle for original equipment manufacturers, system suppliers and semiconductor companies.

Also in the same month, JSW Motors signed a long-term strategic agreement with French software company Dassault Systèmes to expand its capabilities in vehicle design, engineering and manufacturing.

That collaboration is intended to support JSW Motors’ planned new energy vehicle portfolio through wider use of digital technologies in development and production.
