Jaguar Land Rover, North America, the Mahwah-based arm of Tata Motors' UK-based JLR, has received Mahwah Township Planning Board approval to begin customising and expanding an office complex on Route 17 North in the town to be the site of its new North American headquarters. Construction on an existing facility will begin this year with design by Gensler Architecture/Design. The move to the new office from the current headquarters in Mahwah is slated for early 2018.

In the first eight months of 2016, JLR's US sales have increased 46% and Canadian sales have increased 33%.

JLRNA's current headquarters complex opened in 1989 and houses 250 staff work to manage the automaker's business in the United States and Canada, supporting 377 retailers.  The future 147,000 sq ft facility will allow the company to expand staff up to 315 employees.

Technology will be at the forefront of the renovation, enabling employees to work smarter and more collaboratively with colleagues from around the world. In addition, JLR plans to build a 30,000 sq ft, product research, training and development centre that will also be used for retailer and press events.

"To accommodate our growing business here in North America, we are pleased to move forward with developing a new expanded headquarters in our current home town of Mahwah in the state of New Jersey," said Joe Eberhardt, president and CEO of JLRNA. "We look forward to moving into a modern complex that reflects the new generation of products and provides a venue for events as well a location for the community to learn more about our brands."

Mahwah is 30 minutes from New York City, has easy access to air and rail transportation, and is also home to Datascope, Stryker, Seiko, and UPS.

The existing office building on Route 17 North will receive a major facelift with new finishes, windows and signage, reflecting Jaguar Land Rover's recently unveiled global Arch retailer design standard (the first recently opened by the Penske Group) and using the company's trademark colours of sunshine gray with accents of silver metallic.
