Japan ‘s vehicle exports increased 13.6% from year-ago levels in June to 393,488 units, according to figures released by JAMA. That is the six straight monthly gain, with demand for Japanese vehicles from the US continuing to rise.
The rise in shipments to the US comes in spite of the weakening dollar versus the yen, which will squeeze the Japanese makers’ margins on US exports.
JAMA also said that exports to other areas also increased in June.
In the first half, exports of vehicles reached a total of 2,243,615 units, 12.1% ahead of last year.
