Toyota Motor Corp.’s Corolla model became the top-selling vehicle in Japan in October for the second month in a row, writes Asia Pulse citing figures released by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association Tuesday (7/11/00). According to the data, sales of the Corolla subcompact rose 71.1 per cent, year-on-year, to 18,901 units.
The car manufacturer also took the next four positions, with sales of its Vitz
subcompact model – which came second – climbing 10 per cent to 11,836 units; the
Estima minivan – in third position – recording sales of 10,365 units, an increase
of 270.6 per cent; in fourth position was the Crown luxury sedan registering 8,417
unit sales, followed by the company’s FunCargo wagon with 8,228 units sold.
Honda recorded sales of 8,154 units for its Civic model which came in at number
six, says the Association.
