Toyota’s Corolla was best-selling car in Japan in 2005, its third straight year at the top, Xinhuanet reported.

But sales of 149,810 units were off 13.6% from the previous year, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association reportedly said.

Toyota’s range grabbed six of the top 10 best-selling chart places, with the newly redesigned Vitz (Yaris for export) second with 131,935 sales.

Honda’s Fit (Jazz) was third, selling 125,894 units. The company had two cars on the list.

Nissan Motor’s Tiida – heading soon to the US as the Versa – ranked fourth with 98,069 sales, Xinhuanet added.
