Toyota Motor and its workers’ union have agreed to change its rule on overtime work to make it easier to secure necessary labour when production needs to be raised sharply.
Under the current system, workers who put in more than 45 hours of overtime per month are supposed to take one week day off in the following month but the new rule will let workers take a day off beyond that period so that they can more flexibly meet the company’s production needs, sources told Kyodo News.
